From the Principal’s Desk….

This week I dropped out of the busyness of RMDS and went with Rang a 6 to Delphi Adventure centre. It is a very special part of the world and the children had an incredible three days. For some it is their first trip away from home and judging from the packing this morning - the first time they had to pack their own bags. They’re all packed and I’m writing this on the train as we make our way back to Dublin. The bags may not be as tidy and definitely not as clean given what the children got up to in Delphi. It is however an experience they will never forget.

It seems like a very long time since we had our assembly on Monday where Rang a 3 were talking about the Buddhist festival of Vesak and reminding us about our values of Honesty and Generosity. We also had our Run Kids Run raffle and finally we found out who the lucky winners in each of the classes were.

Incredibly the money has kept coming in and we are currently just under 11k for this fundraising initiative. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this.

Creative season is ongoing in the class and rang 4 have been creative with their own class art and they impressed the infants so much that some of rang a 4 went with Ellen to make some flowers with Maria in Junior Infants.

Rang a 4 also had a workshop where they learned about the Brazilian practice of Capoeira. The children were so impressed we might try and give more classes a taste of it as part of Active week next month.

Rang a 1 had their trip to Fort Lucan on Thursday and Rang a 2 are in Causey farm today. So I imagine everyone will be very glad of the extra long weekend this weekend.

Don’t forget we are closed Monday and Tuesday next week. Rang a 5 are away on their trip to Baltinglass on Wednesday and Senior Infants will be at the zoo on Thursday.

For Senior Infant parents please don’t forget that Tuesday’s Forest School group will be in the forest on Friday.

Have a lovely extra long weekend everyone,

Paul
