1st Term Newsletter — Senior Infants

Happy Christmas from Senior Infants and Ms Brennan!
We have worked very hard all term and have learned lots of new things too. We are learning new words to read and write each week and love looking at books when we are finished our work. We also really enjoy our “Free Writing “ time each week. We visited Rathmines library where Eoin talked to us about books and read us some great stories.

We are learning to write well and we can write our own sentences. Sometimes our work is so good that Ms. Brennan sends our copies in to show Ms Whelan! We love learning our new words and phrases in Irish each week but especially love the poems and songs.

We are learning to be responsible for our classroom and ourselves. We have class jobs to do each day and we take turns at checking to see if the lights are off when we are out of the room, keeping the library areas tidy, going on messages to other rooms in our school and checking the class bins to see if they are being used correctly. We also pick eight group leaders each week. It’s fun taking turns!

Mr Teddy has been on many exciting adventures since September including visiting Santa (a few times!), playing football, going on visits to our relations and playing in all the local playgrounds. He’s looking forward to going to someone’s house for the Christmas holidays now.

We loved our yoga class last week with Alana Lily’s mum. Each week we get to do GAA with Simon and our ball skills have improved a lot since September. One of our favourite things to make in art class were our clay monsters which looked so cool when we decorated them with sequins. The class was covered in glitter after our winter pictures were completed and we wrote about them too. We were proud of Phoebe when she talked at the 1916 flag giving ceremony .We learned about the Irish flag and what each colour means. At the end of November, Hugo’s mum came in to tell us all about Thanksgiving.
