1st Term Newsletter — Junior Infants

ji

We have had such an exciting time in Juniors this term! It has been so wonderful to meet each other for the very first time and get to know lots of new friends. Our motto is “Always be kind to each other”, and it is really working because we are all very kind and caring.

Speaking of friends. We met our buddies from Rang a Sé in September and we have been doing lots of fun things with them. We went on a nature walk in linear park to look at the trees and collect Autumn leaves and pine cones. We used the pine cones to make some lovely clay hedgehogs, who are now hibernating in our homes. Our buddies made great fairy houses and the fairies lived in the R.M.D.S. garden for a while. We also did some pattern maths with our buddies, and they made us a great board game with Miss Halpin. We love our buddies so much.

We met lots of teachers too. Mr. Fairbrother does great P.E. with us, Mr. Mulholland comes in to help with handwriting and other fun things and Miss Whelan is the boss.
Friday is our fun day. Ms Halpin comes in the mornings. We had Laura and Ms Murray too, helping us with our work. After our work is done we can have some well deserved Golden Time.
Letterland is our favourite place and we travel there every week meeting new characters. They always have a new song and a story for us. Our handwriting is lovely , and we have even started reading now. We have visited Eoin in Rathmines Library twice now and he is very kind and says we can visit any day after school.
Guzzler came to our class to tell us all about using energy wisely. We are experts now. Thanks Guzzler!

We learnt a lot about the different festivals around the world such as Diwali. We had a special visitor from Rang a Cúig. Oisín came down and told us all the things they do when celebrating this beautiful festival. We thought he was great!

We also had a lot of fun celebrating a very old festival called Halloween. We asked our Mums and Dads about the games they played and they sounded like so much fun, we decided to have a go in school. We played bobbing for apples and apple on a string.

We always play nicely in yard and have been learning how to skip with the help of Mr.Mulholland and the amazing demonstrations by all the children in the other classes.
Now that it is almost Christmas we are all waiting for Santa. We have all been so hard working in Junior Infants, we know that Santa will definitely have us on his good list.
Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.
