SCHOOL NEWS in Brief…..

28th November 2019

From the Principal’s desk:

A reminder that the Christmas Concert will take place on Thursday, 19th December here in the school as follows:

9.30 a.m:         Junior Infants, Senior Infants, Rang 1 and Rang 2

11.00 a.m:       Rang 3, Rang 4, Rang 5 and Rang 6.

Celebrations and Festivals around the World with the children drawing from different aspects of the curriculum, including Core Curriculum, drama, music, visual arts, language and SPHE to explore the various beliefs, traditions and celebrations around the world.

Our Festive Charity this year is our local group of St. Vincent De Paul (SVP) – a very worthwhile charity which does great work in the south inner city area from O’ Connell Bridge to Heuston Station, Temple Bar and part of the Iveagh Trust Building (Kevin St.) having a catchment area in D2 & D8. They also support homeless families in ten different accommodation centres, four of which are used for emergency housing, the others are hostels. Last year this group delivered over 200 food bags to families and individuals. Presents are also given to people living on their own, single parents, teenagers, young adults and elderly people. These gifts are given in a Christmas gift bag. Every donation that the group receives goes directly to a person in need in this D2/D8 area.  A reminder that the final day for bringing in an item for the hampers which will be delivered to SVP is this Monday, 2nd December. All details are in a previous email!

Please ensure all children from Junior Infants all the way up to Rang 6 come to school each morning with a warm coat! It is important that the children get out into the fresh air each day but they need to be dressed for Irish weather!

School will close for the Christmas holidays on Friday, 20th December at 12pm and reopen on Monday, 6th January 2020.

Please check for lost property at the gate in the morning. All items left at the weekend will be donated to charity.
