The days just won’t slow down and we seem to be going faster and faster so a big thank you to Ellen who has organised yoga classes with Shauna this term. It culminated with the entire school walking to Dartmouth on Wednesday for a morning yoga class in the beautiful sunshine. In the busiest times it’s important to do just that to stop, to slow down and just notice whatever is going on around you.
We are also preparing for a bit of a shift of classrooms for next year, so books have been moving rooms this week and next week expect to see furniture in different places as we are already planning for next year. Infant classroom will both be downstairs next year and Rang a 1 agus a 2 will be upstairs. Rang a 5 will swap rooms with Rang a 3.
All of this was going on in the middle of Active Week which Ellen has organised. We had our Capoeira teacher back which had the lucky children totally engaged in the movement, dance, rhythm and martial arts.
A firm favourite of the week is the World Tag competition which will be held next week as the hall was needed for Rang a 6 graduation which happened today. A huge day for the parents of Rang 6 particularly those parents who have been coming through the gates for a long time. Frank and Dori have been coming to RMDS for 15 years and they along with Caroline and Barry, Catherine and Gavin, Sarah and Garrett, Bronagh and Stephen, Giita and Joss, Maya and Julien, Neasa and David and Camille and Mike have one more week of coming to the gates.
It is a lovely occasion and allows us to mark a big milestone in their lives. The importance of an ending and the feeling of ‘Gestalt’ should not be underestimated. Allowing children to have a sense of completion that they have finished the year is important.
Next week Rang a 4 are off to the Hugh Lane on Tuesday the whole school are going to Dartmouth on Wednesday for a pride picnic and please don’t forget that the school will close next Friday at 12. The infant gate will be locked and everyone will be leaving at the back gate. We normally let Rang a 6 out a little early so if you want to get the photo of the last time through the gate arrive for a quarter to twelve.
There is also a lot of excited rehearsing going on as children prepare for the Talent Show on Monday.

It's been a busy few weeks for the PA:
Sports Day! First, a huge thank you to everyone who came along to Sports Day last week – what an incredible afternoon of fun, energy, and community spirit! It was brilliant to see the parents’ relay make a comeback – and we loved the (friendly!) rivalry between kids and grown-ups alike.
An especially massive shout-out to Renagh Howley and all the amazing volunteers who made the day such a roaring success. We couldn't have done it without you!
Final Wrap Up: We had a great last meeting on Wednesday in the Hill Pub, as we reflected on a great year and plan for what's ahead. We wanted to say the BIGGEST thank you to Lorraine Hackett, who will step down as Co-Chair next year. And to Ann Ungvarsky who will step down as Secretary. Details of who will take their place will be announced in September as we start the new school year!
Mark the Diaries: We’re on the home stretch… mark your diaries! The last day of school is Friday, 27th June. As the final bell rings, make your way over to Dartmouth Square, where an ice cream truck will be waiting to help us all celebrate the end of another brilliant school year 🍦
