Rang a Sé Christmas Term Report

This term sixth class did lots of activities and learned lots of new things. We are delighted to have finally got to the top of the school!
We did a project on WW2. We all worked in groups and presented our projects to the class and we learned loads from it.
We read The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne and also watched the movie.
We had a dance class taught by a professional dancer. We learnt some cool moves.
Our teachers set up book clubs where we go to the library to get books we would like to read. We meet every month in our groups to discuss our books. We play Call my Bluff to learn new words.

We went to the Botanic Gardens to look at sculptures.
Then we made sculptures in class out of paper maché and Marla . We placed our sculptures in context in our school garden and invited other classes to come see them.

We got to meet our buddies from Jun Infants for the first time in Sept and we have had great fun with them every Friday since. A few days ago we went to the Swan Cinema with our buddies to see Paddington . We all really enjoyed our day.

R6PH1

We went to the Royal College of Physicians and saw previously unseen footage of Ireland in the early 20th century. The movie was called The Birth of a Nation. It was very interesting. Afterwards we went to Stephen’s Green for our lunch.
We had our pictures taken and cut our faces out and created super heroes and wrote stories about them.
For the Christmas fair we became entrepreneurs and made and sold stuff. We had great fun doing it and made lots of money and also learnt a thing or two about sales such as profit, teamwork and customer service.
Our class has been very busy preparing and learning songs for The Peace Proms which takes place on February 1st. We will be performing with choirs from all over Dublin in the RDS.
We have been very busy practising for our Christmas play which this year is the Christmas truce of 1914. We put a lot of work in so we hope you enjoy it.
