5th class had a very busy term
In January we got to do the Stay Safe programme. We learned to stand up to bullies and discussed feeling safe, secrets and strangers. At the end of the month we went to the RDS to sing at the Peace Proms. We sang lots of songs. It was a fantastic experience.
We went on many trips this term. We pranced to the Jeanie Johnston and learned about the famine. We also walked to Marsh’s library because it was engineering week and we split into groups to make a stand for a book. We also went to The Design Hub in Dublin castle. It was great fun. We saw objects that were stopped at a certain point during the making of the object and in groups constructed miniature table and chairs
In Core Curriculum we learned about Chinese New Year. This year was the year of the goat. We talked about conflict as well as needs and wants in life.
At the end of February we started our Write a Book project. We worked very hard writing and redrafting our stories. It was a great feeling to complete our books. We also really enjoyed reading the novel Under The Hawthorn Tree in class this term.
We had a visit from Garda Gerry and his friend to our class. We did a mock court case. It was very funny but serious too!
In the second last week before the Easter holidays it was Seachtain na Gaeilge. Bhi margadh císte, seó faisean agus céilí againn. Dé hAoine bhí tionól sa halla agus bhí sé go hiontach.
Happy Easter from Ms. Desmond and R5
