2nd Class End of Term News

R2PH1

This term we all started swimming lessons. We go every Thursday in any weather! We are split into three groups and our teachers are super.

In art this term we loved making Starburst drawings, swimming pool paintings, clay coil pots, stained glass window stars, mini-monsters, flying witches and beautiful winter scenes from fabric. We also sketched our own favourite toy when we were learning about toys from the past.
In Maths we now know our maths signs, like greater than and less than. Also we can take away big numbers from small numbers by going “next door” where the tens live!!
We went to a brilliant play in the Ark where we saw The Curious Scrapbook of Josephine Bean. We got a real surprise when we found out that Josephine Bean was the size of a raisin!

We are the school gardeners too. We did weeding, planting, clearing leaves, digging and watering. We try to keep an eye on the growing plants.

In our class we try really hard each week to get marks in our groups and the winning group gets extra points. For each point we colour a square and when we have 25 we get a homework pass which we love!
We are continuing to learn the ocarina and know a few tunes extremely well. Our favourites are Greensleeves and Ode to Joy.
In Core Curriculum some of the things we talked about were disabilities, friends, families and the festival of Rosh Hashanah.

We went to Rathmines Library this week where we made decorations using old cds. We then got some time to browse or take out books if we had remembered our library card. We also had a great yoga class in the hall with Joshua's mum last week.

R2PH3

We are working so hard at learning our lines and song for the coming Christmas concert that we hardly have enough hours in the day to do our usual class work! We hope you will all enjoy it!
We were talking about how different countries have different customs at Christmas time and so we will say Merry Christmas agus Nollaig Shona to you all from Rang a Dó.
