The Easter break marks the end of what has been another very successful term in Senior Infants!

We have learned even more new and exciting things this year.We are fast becoming excellent readers. This year we read some fantastic stories. We read ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and even went on our own bear hunt. We found a bear in a dark gloomy cave. We ran away as fast as we could and decided not to go on a bear hunt again!

We read ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ agusanleaganGaeilge ‘Seán agus an Gas Pónaire’. We sowed beans seeds and planted them in our school garden. We aren’t sure if they’re magic beans yet so keep your eyes peeled for a beanstalk in the yard!

We were surprised when John the Giant paid a visit to our classroom. At first we were frightened but quickly realised that he was a friendly Giant! He explained how Jack was the bad guy in the story!

As well as being excellent readers, we are brilliant authors (and illustrators)! This term we wrote our second books. We thought of a character to write about, we wrote about the place where the story took place, a problem the character faced and how the story ended. We can’t wait to receive our certificates from Ms. Whelan.

In maths, we learned about capacity. We compared which classroom objects held the most water. After the lesson, our classroom looked more like a swimming pool than a classroom!

Bhíomar ag ceiliúradh Seachtain na Gaeilge an tseachtain seo caite sa scoil. Ba mhór an spórt againn! Rinneamar ár ndícheall ár gcuid Gaeilge a úsáid. Ghlacamar páirt sa chéad seó Faisean sa scoil. Shiúlamar síos an catwalk agus bhíomar ag caint faoi ár n-éadaí. Bhí céillí again le rang a 6 agus na naíonáin bheaga. D’fhoglaimíomar an t-amhrán ‘Trasna na dTonnta’ agus Amhrán na bhFiann’. Chuamar go dtí margadh císte rang a 5 agus d’itheamer a lán cácaí. Bhaineamar an-taitneamh as an seachtain agus is aoibhinn linn an Ghaeilge.

This term saw us say goodbye to our friend Daisy-May who moved to another school, we miss her and hope she is doing well in her new school. We plan to send a card this week. This week we will also say goodbye to Mr. Perera as he moves to 3rd  class, we are sad to say goodbye but can’t wait to meet our new teacher Ms. Ormiston! We hear she is a lovely teacher! Its been an excellent year so far and we are looking forward to our break!
