Merry Christmas from Rang a hAon & Ms Desmond

We have had so much fun upstairs with Ms. Desmond. We were very tired in September as we had to get used to a long day! But we now love staying in school until 2.10. We are so grown up that we even use homework journals and Core Curriculum copies now. We really enjoy going to the park and Mountpleasant at yard time. Every day is a fun day in Rang a hAon. We said a sad goodbye to Ms. Whelan this term and Ms. Stynes became our new principal. She is always smiling and really nice to us.

Drama has been very exciting in the Seomra Spraoi every Monday especially playing Wink Wink Murder! The Grumpy Old Man didn’t like children playing in his garden but we convinced him to be nice and kind. We are very respectful to each other here in RMDS. It is our first time learning an instrument in school and we just can’t wait to play the ocarina at the Christmas concert. Tuesday is art day so our favourite day! We hope you have liked our creative art displays this term. We painted Autumnal tree collages, designed paper owls and learned about the famous artist Picasso. We made witches, bats, Santa’s, Christmas trees, snowmen, snowflakes and lots more! Every Wednesday, we did GAA with Simon. We can now solo, hand pass and kick the football. We all want to play with Dublin in the future!

Maths has gotten harder this year and our Maths Challenge book is nearly finished already! We learnt how to use a hundred square and all the stories of numbers 1-20. We worked with lollypop sticks for tens and units while examining odd and even numbers using our cubes. In pairs we used 2d shapes to make cool pictures. We are learning lots of poems and improving our reading and handwriting everyday- remember full stops, capital letters and very important, no floating letters!.

In October, we went to Imaginosity on the Luas for Maths week. We made bubbles blowers out of pipe cleaners and straws. We had the best day playing with our friends J We also visited Rathmines library where Eoin read us lovely Christmas stories. We’re looking forward to more adventures in 2017.
