In History, we completed a project on Ancient Greece researched it online and also used books and other resources. Some people wrote the final draft and others typed it using the laptops. We presented our work using posters and displayed it in the classroom. In Science we made simple circuits and quiz boards. We all enjoyed that.
We went to the Rathmines Library during the term to do research for our Core Curriculum project on “Endangered Species” and we got a block loan for the classroom. We also used the internet for our research and presented our projects using powerpoint. We discovered some very unusual and interesting animals that are endangered. Have you ever heard of the Humphead wrasse? We didn’t either! We also learned that the World Wildlife Fund organisation have seven categories of extinction risk ranging from being “extinct” to “least concern”.

In English we wrote stories, read lots of books, kept records of the titles and did reviews and we finished our class novel “Seven Spiders Spinning” which was very good. We did a sample of our best handwriting which is on display in the classroom and we are working on joining our letters all the time.
Mr. Mulholland supported us in class with different subjects e.g. mindfulness, poetry, creative writing and he taught us while Ms. Neylon was out at the Parent Teacher meetings in November.

Some of our parents were on the team that won the PA quiz and got a prize for our class and we will decide what to spend the money on next term.
On Wednesdays, this term, we did GAA with Simon in the yard. It was great fun and we are getting very good at perfecting the different skills.
In Visual Art, we made board games.
Jack and Clara are on the Green Schools committee and have a meeting with Ms Halpin and the other class representatives every Thursday and keep ourselves and Rang 1 (our buddies) well informed. Going forward, the Green School committee will be working on travel. We still continue to monitor energy use and the bins in the classroom every week and we are doing very well.

We take responsibility for our classroom and have jobs which are changed every Monday morning.
Our class contributed very generously to the annual hamper charity collection for Focus Ireland and we discussed what it means to be homeless and the work being done by the different organisations.
We enjoyed our big breaks at Mountpleasant Tennis Club and also in Linear park which has been revamped.
In October we filled three marble jars and the whole class got a homework pass. We are filling another jar and the reward will be a class table quiz.
Emma and Robert were great class representatives on the Student Council. They worked hard and always took our opinions and ideas back to the Wednesday meetings! They were representing Rang 1 as well.

Some of Rang 4 were members of the Choir with Ms. Coogan and sang Christmas carols at the Christmas fair and at a local senior citizens complex.
We have been working very hard on our Christmas play and songs. We helped write the script, made props and contributed our ideas to the staging of the play.
We are looking forward to the Christmas concert and the holidays.
