Dia dhaoibh ó Rang a hAon.

We have had a very busy second term working hard, learning how to keep safe and even growing a few inches!

Reading Buddies and Write-a Book was great fun this term. We used our imaginations to write exciting stories and wrote in our best handwriting- remembering capital letters and full stops! We are so lucky to have Rosa’s mum Henrietta visit our class. She has written some adult books and talked to us about her job as an author. We got to ask her lots of questions about writing and she helped us with ideas for our own books.

Thanks to Ms. Neylon and our buddies in R4 who helped us with our reading in January. You were all very kind and helpful and we loved meeting you every Monday and Tuesday afternoon. World Book Day was great as we did the book swap on the yard and read our new stories in class.

Bhaineamar taitneamh as Seachtain na Gaeilge- an Céilí agus an Seo Faisean. Rinneamar damhsa Ballaí Luimní agus Ionsaí na hInse sa halla. Jack’s mum, Barbara, kindly read Irish books to us in groups – go raibh míle maith agat. We sang lots of Irish songs and performed the Haka as Gaeilge!

PE, Art and Drama are some of our favourite subjects in R1. We love keeping fit and healthy as well as showing our creative side. Check out some of our beautiful art pieces below. We practiced lots of different rolls, jumps and balances in the hall during gymnastics and hockey skills in Mount Pleasant. Congratulations to Ben and Kate who were part of the winning World Cup Football team - well done to everyone who participated.

We have gone on trips to Rathmines Library, the National Art Gallery and Stephen’s Green playground this term. We worked very hard saving carbon during The Carbon Challenge to win the pizza making trip to Milano’s also!

Farmer Ann visited with some of her animals. We got to hold her baby lamb and see her chickens and hens. Margaret from the DSPCA also called to RMDS to talk to us about taking care of animals and pets. She brought her Giant Snails along also!

Hope you all have a lovely Easter :)
