Dia dhaoibh! Rang a Trí here!

We would like to tell you all about our second term in 3rd class. Our second term started in January. We came back after Christmas ready to do loads of work.

Term two has been a learning-filled, fun-packed and busy term. We did so much we won’t be able to talk about everything but here are some highlights. We hope you enjoy reading about it as much as we enjoyed the term:

For Maths this term we are continuing to work hard on our tables and have learned a few tricks to help us. Most recently we learned how to divide with remainders. It was tricky at first but we have since gotten used to it and have enjoyed the challenge!

This term we held our first debate in the classroom. The motion was whether we should have school uniforms in RMDS. Both sides spoke very well and in the end the anti uniform side won.

Recently we have just completed and handed in our Write-A-Book entries. This year it is a competition judged by professional writers. In the first term we worked on our story outlines, characters and completed our first draft.

Over the last month, we typed up our final draft using our new RMDS Google accounts.

We started the Stay Safe programme this term and have learned and discussed ways to stay safe. We engaged with the Webwise programme and learned how to stay safe online too.

This term we also started Science workshops: We learned about chemical energy while making lava lamps. One of the reactions was so strong it fizzed so much it started to overflow!

Bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge iontach againn. Bhí ‘Seó Faisin’ againn. Chaith an rang éadaí speisialta agus shiúil gach duine síos an siúloid os comhair na ranganna eile. Bhí céilí agus raifil againn freisin.

We have taken a very active role in Green School projects this year. Our class handed in the most pledge sheets and came 3rd overall in the amount of carbon we saved. We are all trying to do our best for the envirnoment.

Time flies when you’re having fun and the term was a quick one. We hope you enjoyed reading about it. As you can see, we really have been busy! Now we are looking forward to a well-deserved break over the Easter holidays.
