Happy Christmas from Senior Infants!

We are very excited about Christmas! We decorated our classroom and  learned about why people bring trees into their homes each year. We made beautiful triangle shaped trees with strips of coloured paper and lots of glitter.

We are learning new words to read and write each week. We love looking at books when we are finished our work. We also really enjoy our Free Writing  time. We are learning to be responsible for our classroom and ourselves. We have class jobs to do each day and we take turns at checking to see if the lights are off when we are out of the room, keeping the library areas tidy, going on messages to other rooms in our school and checking the class bins to see if they are being used correctly.

Every Friday we wait for Ms Brennan to pull a name out of our name box to see who our class Teddy bear will visit at the weekend. Mr Teddy has been to the park  eaten in fancy restaurants and does GAA with Ranelagh Gaels on a regular basis too!

We were learning about Road Safety so Jackie, our school lollipop lady, paid a special visit to our class. She was wearing her uniform and talked to us about being safe on the roads. She  gave us some stickers and colouring books.

Simon , the GAA coach, taught us a lot of new skills in Gaelic football and Ms Halpin  takes us for PE and Drama each week.

We have been exploring some stories in drama class and one of our favourites was the Three Billy Goats Gruff. In PE  we are really working hard at skipping as well as having fun with the parachute. We even did a skipping  demonstration for some of the other classes!

We walked to Rathmine’s Library in October where we listened to stories told by Eoin and entered a Halloween colouring competition. In November we all went to see a puppet play in the Ark called Charlie at the End of the Universe which was great fun.

We were sad to see Ms.Whelan leave in October so we prepared a special song to sing to her at the whole school assembly the day she left. We are enjoying getting to know Ms. Stynes and she knows all of our names by now.

We are very excited and happy to be doing our part of the Christmas story for the Christmas concert this year and have been practising hard. Nollaig shona ó Senior infants!
