SCHOOL NEWS in Brief…..

 14th April 2016

 From the Board of Management

The Board of Management would like to congratulate the school and in particular Maria Halpin, our Green school co-ordinator, on achieving the third Green Flag for the school and on winning the Water School of 2016 award for the Dublin region. We are delighted that Eamonn Ryan, the local Green Party TD, has  agreed to help us raise the flag here in the school in June.

The school will be closed on Tuesday June 7th for in service training for staff on the new language curriculum which will begin to be implemented in primary school from next September. The childcare service will be open that day.

Extra curricular activities have begun this week and classes are now full. We are looking forward to getting your ideas and comments on the programme for next year later in the term.

The Student Council, the Parents Association and the Green School Committee would like to invite any parents who wish to help us with our annual spring clean of the area outside the school to meet us next Wednesday morning, 20th April at the gate at 9am, for about 45 minutes. Gloves and equipment will be provided. No toddlers please!

Special thanks to Louise Horgan, Joshua and Alana Lily's mum who is providing yoga classes for all the staff and the children over these two weeks. This is part of the SPHE programme and links in with our mindfulness practice. We hope to finish the programme with an outdoor yoga assembly on the new oval in the park on next Friday 22nd, Earth Day. Weather permitting. Parents are most welcome to join us - time tbc.

Other school events and dates are available on the calendar on the school website (www.rmds.ie)

From Swan Leisure Swimming Rathmines

·         We ask that all parents/children wait for their lessons in our seated viewing gallery area which can be entered at the door beside the café. At 2.55pm we ask that children line up at the glass gate before entering for lessons.

·         We ask that you do not use the reception area as a waiting area as this is a busy work environment.

·         We ask that you do not use our new Café area as a waiting area, again this is a privately run business and not a waiting area.

·        Lockers are provided in the changing village, please use them and ensure they are locked.

·        Do not leave bags or clothing unattended in changing cubicles as they will be removed.

These guidelines are in place to ensure that lessons run smoothly and effectively without disruption to the day to day operation of our Club.

From the RMDS PA

Welcome back to the Summer term!  2 big dates for the diary this term:

The RMDS Parents night will take place in the school on 20th May - The RMDS Red Carpet Night!  All details to follow shortly.  Get the baby sitters booked!!

The RMDS Sports Day will take place on the 12th June in Sandford School Grounds.  This is always a great day!  The Sports Day is entirely organised by the Parents - so it massively depends on volunteers!  If you think you can help out with set-up, race management and stall staffing on the day, please email me at avrilwhelan@hotmail.com.  This year’s Sports day will be bigger and better (now all we need is the weather!!) so we need plenty of help!
