SCHOOL NEWS in Brief…..
2nd February 2017

From the Principal’s desk:

Forest School got off to a great start this week with Rang 2 despite the slightly more wintery weather!
A reminder to parents that Parents’ Day is the 21st/22nd March so mark it in your diaries!

Just a reminder that the school will be closed next Thursday, 9th February as the teachers will be attending a Professional Development Day on the new Language Curriculum which has been introduced.
Please check for lost property at the gate in the morning. All items left at the weekend will be donated to charity.
Rosemarie Stynes

From the PA:

Many thanks to all of the parents who attended the First Aid in the Home information evening. The feedback has been very positive, and the notes will follow shortly by email.

The Cinema Night tickets will go on sale from Monday, 6th February. Kieron Walsh (Harper and Jarvis' dad) has once again come up with a fantastic line up of movies for the event!

Classes from Junior Infants up to R4 will be able to choose from:

• Zootropolis
• Cinderella
• Kubo
• Trolls

The Fantastic Beasts Movie will be screened in the Seomra Spraoi for R5 & R6.

Tickets will be €5 for children which will include a snack bag.
All children must have a parent or guardian on site throughout.
Parents can buy an adult ticket on the gate which will cover refreshments served in the Hall. Always a great social event!
We are looking for volunteers to do short stints in the movie rooms to help monitor the children - please volunteer yourself at the gate or let your Class Rep know!

The RMDS Readathon
This new event in the PA calendar has a double focus - to encourage reading among the children ahead of World Book Day, and also to co ordinate a combined effort among the children to raise the final funds needed to complete the Linear Park Fort.
Sponsorship forms will be handed to the children in class today, and teachers will briefly run through the format. Children (if they choose to take part) will set their own reading targets from 2nd February to 2nd March - World Book Day. All sponsorship raised can be brought to the School on the morning of 2nd March - the Readathon will then end with the RMDS Book Swap in the yard and with a treat for the children!
Happy Reading!
