From the Principal’s desk

  • Lost property – please check in the morning.
  • School will be closed for Junior Infants tomorrow as we are holding the reception morning for incoming infants.
  • School is closed for all pupils on Tuesday 7th June due to a staff in-service training day on the new language curriculum.
  • Application forms for the Summer Camp are now available from the office.
  • Congratulations to all the pupils who took part in the Write a Book project this year. We hope to display the pictures from the assemblies next week. If anyone wants to buy a copy of the We are Writers  book made by the pupils from Rang 3 to Rang 6, just go online to www.rmds.ie , click on the contact cloud, scroll down to the Easy Payments classroom requisites and items button and follow the instructions. A copy costs €8. We will then put a copy in the schoolbag for you.

Dear Parents,

I am delighted to advise you that following the conclusion of the appointment process the Selection Board have appointed a new principal to succeed Joan Whelan.  We have in accordance with DES/ET process received approval from the Patron and notified the Board of Management.  The successful candidate is Rosemarie Stynes who is currently Assistant Principal in Bracken ETNS in Balbriggan. The BOM and the Executive will organise an appropriate occasion to introduce Rosemarie to everyone.

Building Maintenance Programme 2016-2021

The Executive Committee have been working for the last six months in partnership with the BOM to deliver a programme of planned maintenance of the school in accordance with Department of Education recommendations. This is to ensure that the school building is maintained to a high standard of repair and to ensure the environment that our children and teachers learn and work in is exemplary.

Over the period of 2016-2021 the Executive Committee will oversee a spend €94,000 on upgrades which will include -

  • Repainting each classroom and common area
  • Replacing linoleum in each classroom and common area
  • Replacing the furniture in each classroom
  • Replacing glazing where damaged
  • Re-sanding and varnishing of multi-purpose hallway
  • Upgrading insulation and ventilation in Seomra Spraoi

The funding of the work will come from the Executive Committee Building Fund which is supported by parents’ voluntary contributions and income from the Board of Management. We wish to thank everyone from the staff, BOM and Exec who contributed to developing and agreeing the schedule of works and most importantly the parents who have given so generously via voluntary contributions and events such as the Christmas Fair to allow the works to be funded.

RED Carpet Night - it's a wrap!

An incredible night!  We were truly incredibly fortunate to have had the calibre of presentations that we had in the night.  An amazing array of talent that came together to give the most uniquely enjoyable night out ever!  Thank you so much to all who supported the night and to all of the wonderful contributors who made the event so successful.  Special thanks to Nick Kelly for bring the event to life, and to Richard Chaney for working his magic on the presentations.
