Dia daoibh ó rang a trí. Tá téarma a 2 buailte linn anois.
Term two has been a learning filled, fun packed, busy short term! It seems only recently that we were breaking up for Christmas, but time has flown and we’ve been busy learning.
The main events this term were Seachtain na Gaeilge and the Easter Rising.

I rith Seachtain na Gaeilge rinneamar a lán rudaí! Bhí seó faisin againn, céilí mór agus margadh císte.
We celebrated the 1916 Easter Rising by researching what happened and doing projects on the leaders and other aspects of the rising. We also read the graphic novel ‘Blood Upon the Rose’ by Gerry Hunt.

Speaking of reading, we read our first class novel, ‘Adam Starling’. We really enjoyed it, so much so, that we wrote persuasive letters to the author, Gillian Perdue, asking her to visit us and talk about the book with us. We were delighted when she accepted our invitation and we had great fun with her. It was great to meet a professional writer and get tips from her for our Write-A-Book project, which will start next term.
This term we also started Science workshops: We learned about chemical energy while making lava lamps. We learned about stored energy and angles while making rockets and learned how to make water ‘flow’ upwards by designing and making Archimedes’ screws.

For maths this term we are continuing to work hard on our tables and have learned a few tricks to help us. We love maths and enjoyed playing on Manga High, making our own maths games and even making cupcakes with Ms. Halpin.

We completed the Stay Safe programme this term and have learned and discussed ways to stay safe. We, also, have started to learn joint writing.
Finally, we were very sad to hear the news Ms. Whelan is retiring. She has been a wonderful principal and we will miss her a lot.
As you can see, we really have been busy! Now we are looking forward to a well-deserved break over the Easter holidays.
