10th June 2022

You may have read the sad news of a car falling into the water in Cork city. Gillian Daly was a teacher here for two years and those of us who remember her, know how family was always such an important part of her life and our heartfelt sorrow goes out to her family particularly her children.

We have a number of events coming up next week,

We will be having an active week as opposed to our traditional ‘Sport for All Day’ so wearing comfortable clothes for the week would be highly recommended.

Rang 3 will be going to Clara Lara on Thursday

Rang 1 and Senior Infants will be going to the Zoo on Thursday.

The current Junior Infants will have no school on Friday as we welcome our new Junior Infants into the school for their reception day.

Reports will be sent out next week via the Aladdin Connect app so please check that you have activated the app. Check with the office if you need help with this.

An advance warning that the School Sports Day is on next weekend. Saturday the 18th. Check out the PA section for more information.

We had a very successful Europe Day celebration on Thursday. The classes really enjoyed coming down to taste their way around Europe. Thank you to Rang a Sé for such a great display. Thank you also to Joe Hackett Lila’s Dad who came to talk to us about what it was like to work in the EU parliament.

Today we invited the grandparents of Junior and Senior Infants to visit the school.

Have a lovely weekend,

Sports Day 'Swap Shop'

We are going to host a 'swap shop' on Sports Day - a great opportunity to 'swap not shop' for all the extra-curricular gear your kids may have grown out of and someone else is growing into!

The idea is that parents can bring and take various items needed for school/after-school activities like

  • Irish Dancing/Ballet shoes, class costumes
  • Football boots, shin pads, hurleys, helmets
  • Forest School gear - hiking boots, wellies, waterproofs
  • RMDS hoodies (although, of course, feel free to visit the 'Merch' shop, too!!

So if you have any of the stuff above, in good condition, ready to be handed down, please bring along on the day - and hopefully you'll find something useful to take. *All items in good condition please; and restricted to items for school/extra-curricular activities.*

Cake Sale

There will also be the customary RMDS cake stall at sports day so please bring goodies on the day to donate to the stall and your spare change so you can enjoy them!!
