School News in Brief….

From the Principal’s Desk….

This week we are all about love as the school celebrated with Emily as she prepares for her wedding with AJ next week.  The children all formed a guard of honour for her at break time as Rang a Cúig presented her with a gift to mark the special occasion. We are delighted to share in their joy and wish them a lifetime of happiness.

Don’t forget that next week is a short one as we are closed on Tuesday returning to school on Wednesday.  The short week is going to be busy as Bethan, who has been helping us with our creative endeavours in the past two years, will be in the school to work on a weaving project with different classes.  The roof garden is going to receive a makeover.  The creative team have put out a call for fabric of different texture and colours to form part of this makeover.  If you do have any fabric that you would like to donate please drop it into the school next week.

The lost property was out yesterday and thankfully the mound of clothes has reduced. If you don’t want any of these items to end up as part of the weaving project please collect them.

It’s the start of the summer but we’re still spring cleaning.  Junior Infants were out and about this week trying to leave our yard cleaner than they found it.  The PA are also planning a big clean out of some of the sports day supplies.  I think some of the stuff is older than the building.

Rang a Sé are busy preparing for their EU projects.  I’m looking forward to seeing the hall transformed into a celebration of collaboration.  In a world where conflict seems to be more and more common, we perhaps need some more of it.

The EU project is quite timely with the EU elections scheduled for the 7th June.  As the school is a polling station, we will be closed on that date. You may want to mark that in your calendar.

Rang a 3 are getting ready to work on their Egyptian project and were off in the library getting resources.

A final reminder the school is closed Tuesday enjoy a lovely long weekend and hopefully the Irish weather will be a little less Irish.

From the Board of Management….

The Board of Management would like to welcome the school community back for the final term of the school year- it will be a busy one with school tours; creative week; Sports Day; R6 graduation to name just a few events that are upcoming.

The Educate Together AGM will take place on the 11th May 2024- both the BOM and the Executive will be represented at the meeting.

The BOM would like to remind anyone who wishes to do so to set up their recurring payments on Payment Plus, which has replaced EasyPay for both Voluntary Contributions and Childcare Payments’

From the Green School Committee….

The Green School committee are looking for everyone to include a fork in their lunch bag boxes as a simple way of reducing waste.

From the Parents’ Association….

The PA has put a call out to all classes for volunteers to help clear out and tidy the storage spaces in school on Friday, May 10th.  Thank you so much to the bevy of people that have responded.  We will have all of the shared spaces ship-shape in no time!  If anyone else has even an hour to spare next Friday afternoon, after school, please contact pa@rmds.ie and we would love to have another few pairs of hands.

Sports Day is also approaching rapidly so keep an eye out for volunteer requests.  If you have an interest in helping out, particularly at the finish line of each race, please let your class rep know as this is how we are gathering the multitude of people that we need to help the event run smoothly.

Further, if you have any ideas or suggestions for sports day, please contact Lorraine (087 1356294) to be added to the sports day committee meeting that is happening online next Tuesday.

Next meeting is May 14th online.  All welcome!
